Wood Urethane Flooring AdhesiveWood urethane flooring adhesive is a high solids moisture-cure urethane adhesive. If you are installing wood flooring in an area where there could be moisture seeping through the subfloor, this is the best adhesive to use. You can use this adhesive for hardwood flooring with solid hardwood or engineered wood plank. The recommended subfloors for using wood urethane flooring adhesive are plywood, terrazzo, concrete, particleboard and vinyl tiles or sheeting. The main thing you have to remember when using wood urethane flooring adhesive when installing hardwood flooring is to make sure that you smooth the adhesive over the surface evenly. You also have to use the right size trowel. The trowel used for wood flooring adhesive depends on the type of hardwood flooring you are installing. For example, if you are installing engineered hardwood, you need to use a 3/16 x 5/32 trowel with a v-notch with the hardwood flooring adhesive. If you are putting down ¾ inch solid wood planks, you need to use a ¼ x ¼ x ¼ square notch trowel. You also have to make sure that the adhesive is applied evenly. If you are not careful and the application of the wood urethane flooring adhesive is not uniform throughout the room, the result will be popping sounds when you walk on the flooring. You will have to live with it unless you want to ruin the hardwood floor by taking it all up and reapplying the hardwood flooring adhesive. This is a large and expensive project to tackle because the wood flooring adhesive will already have set and you will have to use a remover. In addition, you will spoil all the hardwood planks and have to buy more. After you install the hardwood on all of the floor, you do have to roll something over the flooring to make sure that the planks are all in contact with the wood urethane flooring adhesive. If there is any plank that is not in direct contact, it will pop out of place and this could be disastrous if you don’t notice it until the wood flooring adhesive is dry. If you are using the hardwood flooring adhesive in a new home, you do have to make sure that you have heat because it is industry standards that both the hardwood and the adhesive need to acclimatize to the normal living conditions. If you are redoing hardwood flooring, any old adhesives must be removed before applying wood urethane flooring adhesive. You can also get this hardwood flooring adhesive in odorless varieties so there is no danger of inhaling fumes while you are doing the installation. Once you apply the wood urethane flooring adhesive and install the hardwood flooring, you can walk on the floor after 8 to 12 hours.
